Well, today it has been raining off and on for the entire day and I have taken this time to sort through some 4x5 slides from late 06.
This particular image wasn't what I had intended, but I'm asking for your opinions. Originally I had set up for this shot on three separate occassions; the sun rises directly behind the fg tree and my intent was to capture it shining through the tree with some clouds, all while the little white flowers were still looking good.
Needless to mention, but it never happened. The humidity caused a low hanging fog which on this day completely blocked the sun. On the other two attempts the clouds completely blocked out the sun.
As I viewed this image on the lightbox I began to wonder what it would look like in B&W so I scanned it then converted it.
I think it's beautiful Robert, it's hard to go wrong with fog. The sense of light and atmosphere is really strong. Your rendering also has a nice subtlety to it that's very appealing. I can see some posterization in the sky, but I assume that's an 8-bit jpeg artifact. Wonderful image!

I think this is a wonderful image Robert, and I don't believe that an image with the sun rising thru the trees would be any better, I agree with Joel on this the fog gives it a very special atmosphere that would be hard to improve on. It is a definite keeper.

Wonderful... the little thing that adds so much other than the obvious dramatic lighting and composition is that there is just a small space between the bug tree & the smaller on on the right. Nothing wrong with this..... I'd hang this on my wall.
I think it's a perfect B/W subject and I like this a lot. I might wish for a slightly broader range of tones in the grasses, but this looks great. CJ

Very nice. The only change I could see would be to bring up the grass midtones a wee bit.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'll take your suggestions and do a little bit more work to it then I'll post it in ESS for broader appeal, and more eye's.
