I'm curious of your thoughts on this one. These ice formations are the result of waves splashing on the rocks and shrubs. It was photographed before sunrise, thus the blue coloration. I thought the color conveyed the sense of cold better than if I color corrected, does it seem to wacky to your eye? The film used was Astia 100f, which is fairly neutral...Velvia would have no doubt looked pretty wild :jump:.

Yes, I also know it's fairly chaotic and as usual I liked that about the scene. Hopefully the arrangement conveys some sense of organization. My compositional options were limited to a large extent by my maneuverability on the ice covered boulders...It's tricky let me tell you!

This is just fantastic Joel, the patterns in this are amazing, it has a cool blue look that is wonderful to view. This is beautiful. BTW I am going to overlook that choas remark, because if I don't I will be muttering words like choas, anarchy, structure, texture, lines, patterns so on so forth and I will never get any sleep then I would have to take a sleeping pill and then my wife would tell me to stay off the internet and get a life then and she would yell at me and I can't stand to be yelled at.....see all the trouble that word causes

Jose,

Chaotic it is, but this is as good an ice images as I've seen here on NPN this inter. Like I have said in other replies... I have NO problem with the blue tint....that's the way things are in that light, that time of day, and to me is screams ICEEEEE----COLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDD.

This is a 5 star image.

Kudos

Very Nice! I love the blue hue and the sense of cold conveyed here. My eye just wants to keep scanning the pic and check out the different formations and contrasting elements. Just an awsome ice shot! Absolutely a keeper! :toast:

Looks perfect to me, and almost alien.

Works for me, Joel. All the different textures are quite appealing. Since I'm a fan of the blue cast for these types of shots it works well for me.

This is an amazing image, Joel. The detail is fantastic. If you disregard the scale, it conveys the feeling of an alien planet -- a very cold alien planet. Beautiful!
