Hi all,
I'm off to Shropshire in MAy this year and was wondering if anyone knew of any particularly good places to go round there for a bit of therapeutic wildlife photography...
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Countryfile on BBC 1 next Sunday (4th March) 11:00 am is doing a piece on the Long Mynd in Shropshire.
There is also Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses NNR in the north of the county: http://tinyurl.com/2lgff3. Great for insects, flowers, adders and open landscapes etc. Good for watching birds but not so good for photographing them, at least not for me so far.

I live in Shropshire, and do a lot of work with the Wildlife Trust and Council's Countryside services - it's a tricky county in many respects as there's no real hotspots, more of a very large local patch that takes some getting to know but the Long mynd/Stiperstones are indeed good for landscapes and the odd Red Grouse, Whixall Moss too for dragonflies (although you may be a tad early) and if you're May visit coincides with Bluebell time then the Trusts sites at Bushmoor Coppice and the Ercall are to be recommended - the latter is good for green Hairstreak butterflies in May too.
Drop me a line if you want any more details on these or any others.

www.shropshirebirds.com and www.shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk both give good local information that is updated daily or so.
Enjoy! Peter
