An old photo of classic lake district weather, taken with the kit lens (@ 18mm) on the 350D.

2 stop ND grad was used.

Was a bit of a bleak hillside, so this grass was the only available foreground interest. I got very wet shortly afterwards.

Love everything about it.

Very nice. Very moody.

I think the 2 clumps of rushes in the foreground are fine.

It's not grim to me, more wild and inviting.
Well worth getting wet for.

Super shot, but it looks like your filter holder is vignetting at 18mm?

If using a Cokin P system, try cutting off the front two slots to reduce the filter holder length - a much cheaper option than buying the dedicated wide angle holder Cokin sell

One to be proud of-plenty of emotion-worth the drenching :toast:

Ta for the comments guys.

The darkening of the edges isn't the result of the filter holder. This was actually done on purpose in post-processing, as I liked the extra 'mood' it gave the pic, and how it concentrated the viewer on the drama in the centre of the image

The kind of shot that makes me wish my knees were in better condition, so I could get up there myself. Very dramatic, moody shot. I love it!

Thanks again for the comments folks. Just goes to show it's possible to get half-decent results from the Canon kit lens. I won't be going back to it though!!
