I've been trying to get my filing system into some sort of order and came across this raw image that I hadn't even processed. The background, imo, is just beautiful.

80+% of full frame
Canon 20D
Canon 600mm + EFx1.4TC
1/200sec @ f11 iso 200 raw + fill flash (I thought at the time that the shadows were too harsh so I used the flash to balance it up)
Processed in C1 Pro and CS2, very little post processing except to remove a small branch on the rhs of the main perch

Crikey! How could you overlook this!

It is very colourful and eyecatching.
The BG does make it special and compliments the kingfisher very nicely.

I would be very tempted to clone out the broken twigs, especially the left and right-most ones, and the middle one, or perhaps shorten it.

The kingfisher looks superb to me. :toast: :toast: :toast:

It was in a folder that never got processed :frown:

I can see why you overlooked this. It is rather dull compared to your KF flight shots

You couldn't create a better BG if you tried. Superb all round. I'd leave the twigs as they look professionally cut with Wilkinson Sword gardening scissors

Hi Kev,

I can certainly sympathise with overlooking files! I agree with you - the bg is superb (as is the rest of the shot!)

My only slight nit is that the furthest right hand twig is a bit too close to the edge of the frame for me - but that really is being pedantic!!!!

I seem to recognise the location Kev  esp the perch.....

Detail in the KF is super particularly the whites... nice one, mind you all the images you have from here it is understandable that you missed some

All the best

Outstanding colours, sharpness, BG - everything in fact. Don't know how you could overlook it - I would have had an A3 on the wall the same day!

Superb angle and sharpness but the BG makes this shot awesome. The colours mirror the Kingfisher beautifully.

I 've taken the comments onboard and lost the small branches on the right hand side, it looks much better. Thank you
