Anyone have plans to photograph this event Saturday evening? I was thinking over the Boston Skyline but I'm open to ideas of other places.

Mike,
A Boston Skyline wuld be a great shot if the weather, sunset ect all come together. I looked at the eclipse site and it looks like this will be a moonrise event for those of us here in the Noetheast corner of North America. If people would like to check out the detail you can look here:
The time of the eclipse will be 5:44 to 6:58 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
I checked the listings for Boston and the data is as follows:
Sunset: 5:36 p.m.
Moonrise: 5:30 p.m.
When the moon rises for the northeastern US the moon should be just about in fully in the shawdow of the earth. If you can see the horizon you will see a small sliver of the moon before it fully enters the shadow of the earth. Obviously it the Northeast will see the moon emerge from the shadow for those great images of the moon.
WEATHER!! will the weather cooperate? Jim Salge - any comments?

Jim you did your homework, nice job!!! You are absolutely correct. Can you imagine a red/orange moon rising above the skyline? I'm planning on 4 cameras. 1 LF with multiple exposures every 10 mins. 1 35mm camera with 12 sets of bracketed shots. (Roll 2 if necessary) The D100 will have a 300mm 2.8 lens with a 1.4 converter with various shots to see Historgrams etc., and the D200 with an 18-200mm lens with mutiple exposrues of hopefully 2 sets of 10 moon shots and then overlay the 2 photos. I figure with all this, I'm BOUND to get ONE good shot, after all.....even a broken clock is right twice a day!!!

Spaceweather.com has the story up now. With my luck, I'll have a no go, all my good karma was used up on the last good lunar eclipse which happened on a clear night as the Sox won the World Series!
Where are you going to set up your cameras? Do you have a location with an unobstructed view to the eastern horizon? Maybe I'll join you if the weather cooperates. . .

Not quite sure Jim. I was thinking along Memorial Drive by MIT, but I'm not so sure where on the horizon the moon is supposed to rise. I took a compose reading yesterday so that should get me in the ballpark. My plan was to go in Saturday afternoon around 4 and look around for a good spot, (maybe somewhere with the Zenkin Bridge?). My other problem is trying to get multiple exposures. I tried it yesterday but everything got blown out. Now I'm wondering how to multiple expose the city skyline with a "bad moon rising"? Worse comes to worse I'll just do single exposures. The other problem is the upcoming storm tomorrow. Is the sky going to be clear come Saturday night? The whole thing is going to be a crap shoot but we'll give it a go anyway because......That's what we do!!!!!

Yes, I actually had my camera all set up on my deck, and between innings I went out to shoot the eclipse. It was a great night!
