On the 15th I have to travel to the mainland for a hospital check-up in central London. I have the morning free and so was wondering whether to bring along my 100-400 lens and go bird watching somewhere - question is where? I arrive at Victoria station at around 9am and have until around 12.30 to go exploring, I'll have use of a day travel card (zones 1&2 only I'd guess).

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

Any of the royal parks should be good

Really only the Royal Parks, near to Victoria is Green Park, a two stop Tube Journey and a short walk will get you to Hyde Park and the Serpentine (Oh on the walk back you can always call in to the NHM for a coffee :wavey: )....

Victoria is also a short walk from the Thames embankment for gulls and possible heron and cormorant, the cormorants tend to perch on the battersea side of the river however...

HTH let me know if you need more info...

All the best

I have found that Green Park is relatively wildlife free, but does have a good display of daffodils around about now to practice artistic blurred or close up shots

Other side of the Mall, ie south of Green Park is St James Park which has a captive wildfowl collection, multitudes of scrounging squirrels and the (in)famous pelicans that started to eat live pigeons last year........

Just behind (north side) of Baker St station (which is about 15 mins north of Victoria St, 1 stop to Green Park and then 2 stops Jubilee Line) and a 2 minute walk is Regents Park with a more extensive captive wildfowl collection, but is good at the moment for the habituated wild Grey Herons, especially at noon as there are a couple of locals that feed the herons daily
