my bogey bird!
At last I have a half decent image of a male Chaffinch. I know they're common, but I've never had much luck with these. They're either on the ground or don't perch with any decent BG's, so when this opportunity presented itself last weekend, I was quite pleased.

Full frame and very sharp, so I'm very pleased

Comments appreciated

And so you should be pleased... this is really very nice, super perch and bg and a great pose from the bird....

The leaves in front could be a minor niggle but for me they are fine as is..

Perfect environment and perfect shot. The leaves in front don't bother me - all part of the scene

Common or not an excellent environmental shot. Thae landscape format suits it perfectly. The perch looks like a Scots Pine to me.

Great shot - the needles add 3D depth, and I like the colour, especially the balace between the reddish/buff of the tree and the chaffinch. Trivial, but is it worth cloning the needle just behind the bill out?

Hi Graeme

You don't often see shots of Chaffinch as nice as this - love the setting!
