Hi Guys
Has anyone to date seen a green headed chaffinch
Ive seen one about 3 weeks ago a brightly coloured male with a green head and back, and have been looking for it every day
Been in contact with the RSPB and BTO and they tell me that i must have mistaken a greenfinch for a chaffinch. no such thing as a green headed chaffinch.
My Canon 1DS is in for repair and now i have returned to my 350d
the great thing is I have got about 60 pics of it at last, all in RAW
The problem is i do not know how to use CS2 as it should be used.
I was a little to far from the bird to get close shots, i am putting up a hide to get nearer.
Can someone out there process these pics for me to get the best out of them and how do i regester these shots (Copyright)
I cant promise to be the best processor of files on the planet, but i have Capture 1 and dont ming helping. How big are the files? If over 10mb i can give you my ftp site address? I can put your details in the exif?
Tony,
Why not just download one of the many Raw convertors and run your images through there.
Capture One I believe has a free trial period, not sure sure if you're familiar with the program but it's very easy to get to grips with and should provide all the tools you need to get your Raw files looking good,i.e.levels,crop tool, sharpening, etc.
I'm intrigued to see your green-headed Chaffinch.
If you choose one of the images you'd like to see I'd be happy to process it for you,and post it to the forum should you wish.
Nope.... have you contacted our bird group based at the Walter Rothschild Museum, Tring?
(Natural History Museum, Zoology Dept).....
You should have DPP on disk supplied with your cameras for RAW conversion, you should perhaps have imaged a grey card at the same time so that an accurate w/b could be obtained (my science head on here)...
You should also have a CD with the software for your 350D and 1Ds either of which should have Canon's Digital Photo Pro developer software on them (DPP).
Any of the above should allow you to browse and 'develope' your Raw image files.
As to copyright, in the UK you don't need to register them anywhere as you automatically have the copyright in any photos that you take. This is the same in the US, but they also run an additional registration system that allows the artist to claim additional damages if their copyright is infringed and the item is registered.
I've not seen a green headed chaffinch, but we did have a great tit in the garden recently with a very dark head. The white face patches were dark to the point of being black. Looked like it had an all black head.

Assuming you're using a PC, you can download many different trial versions of software
Breezebrowser
RawShooter Essentials (Discontinued product, but works!
CaptureOne LE
Lightroom

If you want to add the little © symbol to your pics in photoshop, then you need to use the text tool to add some text. When you want to add the © symbol, hold down the ALT key on your keyboard while you type 0169 on the numeric keypad. If the font has a © symbol in it, then it will appear.
Hope that helps.
I hope you can post a picture for us to see it
