Inspired by Phil's excellent recent Blue tit flight shot, I tried a session using just available light. This was the best result!

D200 200-400VR f7.1 1/640th sec Iso 400

Noise reduction and selective layer sharpening applied.

Superb image Clive, the fact that the finch is calling really makes the shot extra special

Quite a capture.

The head looks sharp and I like the open bill.
Looks like he means business!

An excellent image. :toast: :toast:

Very nice shot.

Really like the motion blur of the wings upto the sharp front end.

Well done :toast:

Great shot - just the right amount of motion blur. What was the finch up to? :toast:

Hi Mark,

It was involved in 'a bit of a barney' with another g/finch perched on the RHS! :jump:

A fantastic flight image. Perfectly exposed and sharp where it needs to be with just the right amount of blur in the wings, The expression and open bill make this a very special image. :toast:

very good image of these muckrakers-- they can take on just about anybody and can't imagine them mixing in with a Chaffie simply because they are so aggressive and nasty. they will even turn on their own if the poor bugger is slightly disfigured. had a baldie a year ago and the greenies really went after him whenever he appeared.
