Sunset
This is a first time post on PNWNP. I thought that it would be good to get feed back and comments from people that are in my area and whose photos I have been looking at for a long time.

My wife and I had a couple of nice days out a Lincoln City at the end of January. Our second evening there a few clouds showed up for sunset so we hiked up the beach past Road's End to some rocks and this is what I came up with. This is a composite of 8 images merged in PhotomatixPro and then worked on in PhotoShop. Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks, Fred

Fred,
Welcome to the forum. As for the image, I kind of feel it might be a right and bottom heavy. I did a screen crop and I think it might work a little better. Very nice first post none the less! :toast:

I like the path the water takes back to the ocean. The horizon looks a bit curved (easily fixed in PS) but it's not a deal killer either.
All in all, Frank, it's pretty dang nice.

Fred, welcome to the forum and a good first post. Somehow the pic looks a tad over processed or is it my monitor.

I like what you did with the forground, those rocks have some interesting shapes and hold my eye, then I can drift off along the path of the water to the sky.

I've been coming back to this because I love the water reflections and the colors, but there is something that doesn't feel exactly on. Here's what I came up with:

The sand as the negative space on the left forms some right pointing "V" shapes against the stones as my eye moves down the frame, but it wraps all around to the right and touches the right side of the frame at the very bottom, thus drawing my eye directly to the bottom of the frame where it stays and makes the picture seem bottom heavy. If you cropped this just a tad above your name, so that the sand again repeats the "V" shape, it has a nice flow to it which allows the eye to move back up. Yes, I know that's completely nit picky, but I don't charge.

I like the photo and colors. Very nice.
