I'm heading to Sunriver/Bend the first week of April for family vacation, but of course, will be out shooting  I'm looking for a little advice

Is Smith Rock a Sunrise shot? Painted Hills is sunrise, correct? Anybody have other locations/ideas that they wish to share?

Thanks in advance.

Smith is for sunset as are the Painted Hills. There is one spot at the PH that is for sunrise although it's about two hours to the Hills from Bend.

You might also want to try driving around the backroads around Antelope and Shaniko for some old homestead shots too...

Kevin, your best bet would be to hit the Painted Hills on your way down to Bend. Go East on 84 to Biggs and then head South from there. Hit Antelope and Shaniko and get to the Hills at about four. Shoot the Hills for a while, shoot the sunset and then head off to Bend via Prineville.

Don't miss out on Sparks Lake either. South Sister and Broken Top provide a spectacular backdrop.
