I am up for suggestions for this year.

I currently plan to be a Magee the second weekend of May and most likely Cuyahoga the last weekend in the fall, but beyond that, I don't have much in mind.

Part of it is that I am currently trying to changes jobs so I may lose a lot of the vacation time I have had in the past, but if I can get somewhere, I will. (Janice - that is NOT public knowledge here at work!!)

Dan,

You might want to come up here the week before in October....... The last weekend weather wise was BRUTAL the past 2 years. Kind of a crap shoot.

April 20-22 2007 is the photo competition to benefit the group, Friends of Hocking Hills. More info can be found here.

I would enjoy seeing some of you there. They use the money to build blinds and other projects in the park. If you have seen the blind at Rose lake it is one that was built from this money.

I missed all of the meetings last year due to work but I am on a more normal schedule this year.

John Bryant State Park is a good idea in April also.

John Bryant is a good location for wildflowers. I seem to remember that the last weekend of April is a pretty good time for that.

I plan to be in the Smokies the last full week of April, job situation permitting, so I can't be there. But having said that, is anyone interesting in hosting that weekend? The main responsibilities would be a Saturday contact person (basically, grab some of the park flyers, possibly a quick orientation to John Bryant, Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen and what is there, and a vehicle to find for meeting up) and knowing where to get lunch and dinner Saturday night. Anything more than that would be up to you, although generally appreciated.

Is anyone interested in meeting at Magee this Spring, probably the second weekend? This would be primarily for the Spring Migration and it is still a bit early for wildflowers and insects, and landscapes aren't real exciting there

I am also up for the third weekend, maybe even both.

If anyone does the Shoot the Hills Competition, you'll need to be pretty creative and look hard for your shots. Some things, like Cedar Falls and the Upper and Lower Falls at Old Man's Cave are so heavily shot during the weekend that the judges almost invariably ignore those images.

Dan,

I am going up to Magee, just not sure when yet. The second weekend of what?

Josh, second weekend of May. Mid-May is the peak of the migration - you usually get the tail end of the early arrivals and the beginning of the later arrivals.

If you do any camping, there is a state park just east of Magee, about halfway to Toledo that is fairly quite to stay at.
