Blue moon
I missed the eclipse but the next morning(Sunday) before dawn I watched the moon set over lake James. This is a 90 sec exposure and so I cloned out the moon blob leaving a bit of glow on the clouds.
Minor adjustments in PSE5 to highlight the tree line.
Canon 400D,28-135mm,90sec@F8.

Simple but very pretty, well done!

That has a great mood.

I'd crop the right side to center the moon and reflection. . . And maybe composite in another shorter exposure with the moon, if you have it.

hey Leann. would you mind posting the moon version here? Curious because the lighting and reflection on this looks weird w/o it. Also I have a hard time judging straight horizons but it looks a little higher on the right than the left.

Its a strange image, Leanne - but not in a bad way. The light, colors, and moon blob are all kinda otherworldly.

I appreciate the feedback:-)
I have a horizontal shot also that was taken a few minutes before this one so the blues are even darker and the moonshine is very distinct and bright but it has the infamous banding that I cannot seem to edit out. Here is the untouched up version of this shot. I hope everyone has a good weekend :wavey:

Now I see why you decided to clone. Is that a lens flare or motion blur? I would assume a lens flare as there is still some color in the moon.

Yep.. I think it's motion blur as it was really windy and the clouds were moving across the moon.
