Another image I'm unsure about...
As part of my effort to re-engage this fine group, I thought I would share an image I'm just not sure about. I want to like, but I feel like I just missed on it. Any impressions?

I think your first impressions are about right. The thought was there, but the hard light didn't allow for it to happen.

I think Todd got it right. The light just isn't working here, Brian. The dark shadows throughout are a bit much, particularly the one in LLH corner. Sorry...

Hi,

Good compositon, but shadows are distracting. I want to like it too. If you crop the bottom half off it's not bad.

I think this composition has a lot of potential. It reminds me of a stream I shot in Aspen last fall. I think it probably needs light from another direction/different time of the day to really bring out the colors.

Here is the example of a similar scene:

I like the comp a lot, Brian; the sunstar and crisp feel are also very nice. But, I think the contrast is too much for me and outweighs the positive impact of the elements that are working well.

I like the composition too. Have you tried converting this to a black & white? It might work better that way. :toast:
