I am in the process of finding a place to live in Jonesborough. Once I get moved and settled, I would love to travel to the coast and get some photos of the beach and any towns near by that are awesome to photograph. One place i am thinking of going is Charleston. Any thoughts? I have never spent any time in this area, so am looking forward to many trips all over and exploring. I also love birding.

I have spent the last 8 months near Maryville enjoying Cades Cove and the GSM. Although I LOVE the mountains, I dont like Maryville at all and need something different. Looking forward to meeting other photographers in the Johnson City area someday soon. I figure moving up that way, I will have so many other areas to explore and still be close enough to enjoy the GSM at times.

thanks

Cindy,

Glad to hear you're coming to my area. You'll love it in Jonesborough, it's my favorite of the area. Give me a call sometime and I'll get you to some of those great coastal scenes.

Cindy,

Jerry is right you are going to love Jonesborough. Noticed you enjoy birding so you might want to check out the Elizabehton Bird Club (Lee and Lois Herndon Chapter of the TOS) which is very active. They usually meet on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at Milligan College but subject to change depending on school breaks. Some very knowledgable birders one of whom is Dr. Fred Alsop, ETSU prof, one of the foremost (not sure who the other three are  - a joke you can ask him about) authorities in the country. He has published several books on birds including the massive tome he did for the Smithsonian Institution not to mention he is a great photographer as well.

Welcome to the area. :wavey:

Feel free to contact me as well about coastal locations, especially in South Carolina.
