Folks,
I could use some guidance. Within the past couple of days I posted a Pelican landing on a dock in the Avian Forum. It was suggested to me that the photo might have been posted on Man and Nature (because of the presence of the dock).
As I review the guidelines, they plainly state:
"Avian Gallery - All images with birds as the main subject. Images of captive birds must be stated as such."
Needless to say I'm a bit confused. If Avian submissions are meant to be only birds in a natural setting, I would like to know.
Thanks, and I do hope I'm not opening a can of worms for the birds.

From what I have seen, the avian forum tends to have posts with little or no manmade objects in it, the stray bird feeder aside. For the most recent pelican image you have posted, the two pieces of metal on either side of the bird are a dominate element of the composition, which I think is where the suggestion to go to the man and nature forum comes from. Had it been just the dock, I don't think you would have gotten that comment since the dock is not as dominant in the frame. It is a bit arbitrary, I grant you, but I think it that is what is going on. I wouldn't stress too much over it - most of us who have been posting here for a while have gotten that comment as well in other forums.
Thanks for asking the question, Carol. I quickly redirected one of my posts to Man & Nature from Avian because it showed pier pilings along with Black-necked stilts. But this is a nature forum and it has been nicely subdivided into discrete forums. I guess we'll both post in the wrong forums occasionally until we catch on. Doesn't seem to be a sinister group lurking out there waiting for a mis-posting. Just other photogs like us (albeit a lot better photogs).
