Yeh but the Oly-E system has had a 180-500mm F2.8 lens for ages, and it only weighs 3.2KG, so hardly world breaking news to Oly shooters!
PMA has seen Oly announce SWD drive for several lenses, ie USM, when the top pro series, including the above zoom get SWD they will be worth buying (I have just acquired a secondhand 150mm F2 lens to evaluate, great lens but currently let down by noisy dc motor coupling) also announced at long last a 2x converter and sensor image stabilisation for the new 510. 4/3rds system is slowly getting its act together. Not sure how the Panasonic made live view sensor will perform noise wise, it certainly cannot be as bad as the Kodak made CCD sensors used in the older Oly E bodies.
And finally the pro spec E-1 successor has broken cover codenamed P1 outline specs include liveview, sensor IS, SSWF dust busting and probably 12MP as the 510 and 410 use the same 10MP sensor - they are not going to give their pro camera the same sensor as the consumer grade stuff.

Can you imagine a whole row of these in a hide at slimbridge - it would collapse!

Hooh-hoo baby! Now that's what I'm talking about!! Think I'd better get myself down to the gym...
In all seriousness though, is this not going a bit too far? looks like someone has armour plated the hubble-scope! Depth of field must be down to a nanometre at this aperture. Can anyone here seriously imagine themselves trotting down to the woods, up the moors, or round the lakes with this...?
I'm very curious to know what their target market is for this? I'm thinking possibly sports, but aren't those guys hand holding or using monopods? This is surely going to be too heavy for that kind of support isn't it?
Well the target market certainly isn't going to be war correspondants/journos - poke that thing out of a car in a war zone and you're gonna get a missile or two heading your way so it's gotta be sports. Can't weight that much as they're not selling it with it's own tripod - unlike the canon 1200
It's certainly a bruiser. My guess is that it will weigh something in the 10-12Kg range. Not exactly hand-holdable

Actually the one in the E-400 is pretty good. From comparison shots I've seen it's at least 1 stop better than any previous E-series.

Nice to see it comes with a dedicated 2x convertor - not sure I'd have space in my bag for it though!
