Dream Lake blended exposure

Ok,

The dynamic range was extreme on Tuesday at Dream Lake. So I blended two exposures from one image I liked - actually one RAW file. I want to keep the shaded area to still looking like shade but with more detail. So I didn't push it as much as I could have. I may still lighten the log in the foreground a little bit.

Here is the blend:

Well done. I like it when you have to be told the exposures were blended.

Well done Derek. Man that ice looks crazy.

Thanks guys,

Doug - it feels even 'Crazier' when you are walking on it and trying not to fall or sitting on it and hoping you don't break through

It definitely allows you to see a different perspective of the lake this time of the year.

Derek,

This is a great blend. Well done on a difficult scene!

That is a really good blend job. Are those ski tracks coming across the snow on the left edge?

Agree, an excellent blend! The only suggestion I would have is it feels like the left side lake/ice might be a bit darker to be consistent with the firs above. Otherwise - nice job!

Very nice, Derek. Might I suggest a little more local contrast/color (use curves) on Hallet peak and maybe on the trees on the left?

Todd - Yes I think those are ski tracks as I could see very distinctive lines coming through the trees.

Here is another wider perspective that shows the tracks and actually has 'clouds' in it. But I think the first one has stronger composition. Also the colors and brightness are not quite there yet:

Paul and Tony - Thanks for the inputs as I am still fine tuning these images.

Excellent job on the blend. I think I like the wider angle shot a little better, but both work well.

Nice job, Derek. An awesome, raw, rugged landscape came to life because of your creativity!
