File Transfer Glitch

It had to happen. I ran into a glitch.

I cannot download the NEF (RAW) images from my Nikon D80 to the Nikon Capture NX software. The Capture NX will accept JPEG images but not NEFs. I tried to smuggle the NEF images into the Capture NX by choosing NEF/JEPG FINE but again it will accept only the lesser of the two. I can save the JPEG file as NEF but that is a poor compromise. I want to shoot in the NEF/RAW mode only. I also tried to install the PictureProject software that came with the camera but again to no avail. I promptly uninstalled it. Adobe Photoshop is no help either. I have one more Imaging Editing software that I can try. If that doesn't work then I hope you will help solve this dilema.

Thank you for your response.

Hi Will,

You will need to get a copy of Picture Project which I suspect is included with your Nikon Camera to download your photos.

You didn't say which platform you are using so that might have been the problem with installing Picture Project.

Capture Nikon does an excellent job of editing photos once download, especially straightening photos.

Good luck,

Thank you Carol. I re installed Picture Project, choosing another platform and so far I have my images from the camera transferred there. Now if only I can move them from Picture Project to Capture NX...
