Dipper displaying to mate
River Dart, EOS20D, 400mm@f6.3, 1/160, ISO 100, -1 exp, tripod
Brilliant - the pair I photographed last Spring are busy lining their nest and hopefully this time they will fledge. last year their nests kept getting washed away, but this time they've built under a tree stump so literally sitting pretty.
Looking forward to this as my Spring project...
Cheers,
Mark

Lovely Dipper image with the bird posing well. Good background with enough detail to see the location but not too much as to overpower the bird. The spray is just what you would expect to see where you find these birds.
Hope that the wrist is ok, not the normal place I would expect to meet up with you.

Cheers guys, in answer:
Jack - it is spray - the water levels are quite high and the river is swollen, thankfully no rain though a bit too sunny for photographing dippers but I'm not going to complain about the sun!
John - I didn't meet you and my wrist is fine - someone else you met?
Graeme - I'm always happy to share locations as long as it won't be of ANY detriment to the bird/animal - I may well be taking Brian Phipps down there sometime in the future so if you want I can give you a shout and show you both the best places, though as I've worked to get these guys accustomed to me I'm not sure I should introduce a new person at this stage in the breeding process so maybe not this particular nest, but I know where there may be some others...
Cheers,
Mark

is it raining in the shot or is it just spray?
