I realize that you folks probably shoot a lot of raw files and tweak the white balance in your raw editor, but I've got a couple of contract wedding jobs coming up and the photographer wants me to shoot everything in large jpeg. The AWB on my 1DMkIIN is good most of the time, but it gets real confusilated when it's in a mixed lighting situation such as you sometimes find in dressing rooms and reception halls. I was wondering if any of you have experience with the Expodisc gadget that is used to set a custom white balance? Does it work as advertised or get even close?

It may be a bit pricey but it is very handy and easy to use. I bought the warming model that has produced what I had expected. It has worked to the point that I use it more than not.It has saved me hours spent in front of the computer, I'd rather be shooting.

Hey, check out this page: http://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/2006/08/24/expodisc.html
At the bottom of the page is an example where the Expodisc allegedly improves the image, but I wonder if the author accidentally put the "improved" image on top.
Ken Rockwell had a decent review of the disc, and on his page, all of the Expodisc images were superior -- most of them by far.
