Ugly. Not good or bad. You see, this is such a beautiful, tranquil, pastel morning scene that I just HATE to see the essence of it destroyed by the freeway fencing and signs. I will have exactly the same response to any image that features both nature and an interstate highway. Maybe some can overlook that, or even enjoy the contrasting subjects, but I don't.

Marc, your comment is very much appreciated and I have to agree with you as well.....however there was just no way of getting around that road.......
I am curious as to if you feel the same way about the shots on the cover of Arizona Highway, they seem to have lots of great Rock and Road scenes on there?
thanks much for the honesty.....I posted this in 2 places and the response has been the same.

Yes, I do. I indescriminately feel this way about any shot at all that combines significant modern human interference with beautiful landscapes. Some people are suckers for those winding road, autumn foliage shots and what not, but all I ever see is a stupid road going through a beautiful forest. The Arizona highways shots are similar in some respects. It's better when the road appears more cohesively (hence the example), and worse when it appears as an afterthought - as it does here. Not saying that it WAS and afterthought, just that the emphasis here appears to be intentionally on the landscape and there was just no avoiding that darn highway.

Darren,
I've looked at this scene many times and just could never get myself to trip the shutter. This is a pretty area but it's hard to get a good shot anywhere around the lake.

I can't say it's a photo I'd print and frame but it's sort of a cool graphic. Sometimes I feel capturing a scene like this is worth interest. It's an interesting setup I can take a look at it, say "yeah, cool" and move on. It's not an earth shaker in my life but it is a little detail that enriches it

of all the pictures I take of Nature and landscapes I don't have any printed and hanging in my house...very strange huh???
Yeah, strange, I have about ten of mine, a few of Ellen and the family, a Marc Adamus and a Guy Tal. Since my Mom is an artist, I've always lived in houses that had art hanging on the walls. I have a large one in the bedroom that my Mom did and a charcoal drawing that my Grandmother did in 1922. I bought one that my Mom did for our art show ($1400) that I'm going to hang at the Coffee Co.

I used to have lots of prints hanging on the walls of my house at the coast....but since moving up here to a much larger house I am finding that even 12x18 prints seem small....
plus the cost of framing these days is outrageous!!!! or I am just cheap....could be the latter!

Really? I can double matt, frame w/glass a 12x18 for less than $30. The frames are nice, flat black, semi generic metal frames but they don't look cheap.

Yeah, framing is really cheap if you know where to look. There are even plenty of places online that let you buy custom sized do-it-yourself frames for next to nothing, and they don't look that bad. Less than $30 for a matted 12x18 sounds about right. The nice thing about sites like eFrame.com is that if you need a 17.9x61.2 inch frame, they will send it for the same cost as standard sizes like 12x18, 18x24, 20x30, etc.

Mark, you may be getting some business then if you are willing to do it for other people.....right now I am paying about 100 for a 12x18 with a 1 inch white mat black bevel cut, reg glass and a simple black frame...
I have a media room in this house and I am hanging autographed prints I took of various concerts and my idea is to have everyone have the exact same mat and frame.....if you wanna do one for me I will bring one up so we could see how close you could get the frame and mat to match.
