Fine shot Alan, excellent detail in the feathers, no blown highlights and good shadow detail? well done! (would have good to see the ducks head mirrored)
Cheers

Yes, ditto what Nick said. It also looks to me to be going slightly uphill?
Whilst here can I pick Alan's and members brains? I spent the morning in London's St. James Park last week and I took a fair amount of shots of Tufted Ducks as above - I had real problems in trying to get a decent exposure and avoiding blowing out the whites - so any advice from you guys would be greatly apprciated. Sorry to hijack your thread Alan!
Best wishes & thanks in advance.

Hi Nick & Paul
I cant show anymore of the head cuz this shot is full screen. But i can change the "up hill" part(thanks for pointing that out ).
Regards the exposure - What i do is make sure the whites dont blow when taking the shot(by giving the exposure comp a -1/3 or lower, depending on how strong the suns rays are). Then sort out the blacks in PS, via the curves, brightness etc etc.
Remember you cant help a blown out white in the original shot.
