I was so impressed by James E and Derek S shots of Dream Lake that i had to take a quick trip up there this weekend. Well, got all the way north only to realize i left my battery in its charger behind--major bummer!
So, had to wait til 9am to buy a new battery at Mikes in Boulder, and missed the sunrise. (lesson learned--always keep spare in car!)
But, at least the afternoon light made things challenging. Here's one of the few that came out halfway decent.

Nice photo Stan I was hoping to hear from you after heading up there this weekend. Bummer about the battery, doh! Been there, done that. I have since bought two extra batteries.
Wow, the ice has really melted recently. It looks a bit too thin to venture out on currently. I wonder how much more heat it will take to melt completely? There is some precipitation in the forecast so I guess we will have to wait and see.
Derek: thanks! yep, ice was definitely getting a bit dicey in spots, but people were still walking down the north side. Another couple of warm days ahead, but should get more snow there on saturday and next week will be pretty cold with more snow, so winter aint done yet in the high country! Even though it was 75 degrees over the plains saturday, the wind was pretty biting up at the lakes.
