On my way to catch a sunset at Mono lake, I couldn't overlook this rare play of light. The sun had just crept around a snowy north-facing slope where this solitary Jeffery Pine was soaking up the warmth. Thanks for looking.
Marc,
I kind of like it. It is a unique image with the color contrasting against the rocks. I might want to clone out the bushes on the upper right side to give a cleaner image.

Tighter crop especially from right side would help for me.

You know, it's really not one of my better images. We know that. Just a neat play of light. A rare moment that caused me to pull out the camera. I wan't the more inclusive crop becasue I want to retain a feeling of isolation. The more isolation the tree has, the better IMO.

I like it. I shot a similar image last year of a lone larch illuminated on the top of a cliff near Rainy Lake - always liked those sort of moments. I would, however, suggest cropping out the one bush on the right thats a little redder than the others. It's just enough of a distraction.

The moment I can appreciate...one of those times like someone threw us a little gift. Not a major one, but more like a bone. This makes me appreciate those bones I get while out and about (and keep your mind outta the gutter folks )

Been there done that. I think I almost know the spot.
Perhaps, maybe not so centered?

What makes it work for me is (as usual) you have the light playing with the subject in a dynamic way. The light is only on the tree which makes me think the tree is basking in the solitary situation, not isolated by it. I like it and think it has merit as a photograph. You just can't shoot oh my God vistas all day long or it life would get boring..... or, maybe not..... but anyway, I like it.
