Has anyone spent time in this NM? I'm considering a trip there to explore some archeological sites, but I'm also interested in landscapes? I didn't find much by searching the web, but maybe that's a good sign...

I went through a small bit of the Monument on the way to Tuweep, and wow, is it really out there. With about a million acres, no paved roads and very few developed trails it gets little attention -- which is good. I haven't seen much on archeological sites, but from what I gather, there are great possibilites for landscapes. I did see one article in Backpacker, but other than that very little else. With the right gear and good maps, I think it would be worth a trip from what little I saw. I did see that it wasn't recommended to visit in the spring because of the possibilty of poor roads, from what I saw in March the year I was in the area ,I can believe it -- so much mud! One thing you could just about count on is seeing few people.
