Inspired by the ice shots I've seen on this forum, I decided to head up to Dream Lake myself last Sunday. Unsurprisingly, the nice ice was pretty much gone, but I got this shot of Hallett's reflection in a small pool. I'm not thrilled with this shot, but it was fun just to get up there.
Tony L. showed up just at the end of the alpenglow, shooting a Nikon instead of his 8x10. Maybe we'll get some fresh snow in the next few days to go along with the partially thawed lake.

I love this shot! What perfectly placed elements, and outstanding light. Don't know how you could NOT be thrilled with this shot.

Tony,
Thanks for posting. I also like this shot and its uniqueness is showing the season's transitions. It really begs the question of what the first few weeks of Spring have in store up in RMNP
I am imagining this scene with about half the ice melted and a nice reflection like you have.

Todd - thanks
I think the relatively empty lower right of the image is bugging me.
Nice shot Tony! Was this from Sunday the 18th or the week before? I was there on the 17th and as you can see from my post the lake was totally frozen (with no fesh snow, other than the snow blowing onto the lake). Will be interesting to see how much snow the big storm this weekend brings!
