After seeing the recent black kite posting it reminded me of an image I took last summer at the Hawk Conservancy in Andover. A great place to photograph a range of both British and world owls and diurnal raptors in flight, wrapped in a strong conservation message.
A group of black kites are flown over Reg's Meadow and offer lots of opportunities for tight shots, like this one. Hand focused, as my EOS10D is hopeless on auto focus.
Bird has been working hard hence beak open to take in air.
