Without getting into a Vista debate, I'm considering running a dual boot to gain experience with Linux. I have heard some very good things about a graphics program called Pixel http://www.kanzelsberger.com/pixel/?page_id=12 which runs on Linux.
Has anybody any experience with this program?
Cheers,
Dave

I tried Pixel 1.0 beta 5 build 484 on Mandrake Linux some time ago. At that time, I thought it was buggy enough to be unusable. It did look promising. I haven't tried any newer versions.
Many people use The GIMP for image processing on Linux. Personally, I can't deal with The GIMP's interface. I have not tried GIMPShop which puts a Photoshop-like interface on The GIMP.
In my opinion, the biggest issues holding back Linux in the imaging arena are color management and high-end printer drivers.

I can't help with Pixel, unfortunately, but GIMP is also available for Windows, and I have run it on my XP machine. It seems very powerful, but I haven't used it much because of the old UNIX like interface (multiple windows, somwhat disorganzied menus, etc.). I think I'd like to try it some more, since I only have PS Elements, which is missing some of the things that GIMP has (curves, channel mixer, etc).
