Great pose and perch.

Maybe could do with a little USM.

Wow Gary  That is one of a great shot, are you training him.

How was the shot obtained, is this a captured Vole or one in the wild?

Nice to see a clear detailed shot showig that distinctive short tail

Mmm owl food

Lovely detailed shot that could maybe do with a little sharpening.

Love the diagonal composition.

Strong composition. Got to love those whiskers!

Nice image but has too much of a set-up feel for me - the bramble is too clean and seperated from the b/g for it to be natural. Would look great in some grassy set-up.

this is a total willd shot!.
The Vole is on it's way up to the top of the compost heap where I have placed some seed.
Although I did place the bramble there, which is regulary used by several Voles and Woodmice as a 'Mouse Motorway.

Thanks for answer to my question Gary, much appreciate:toast: :toast:

Sounds like a great set up, I like the mouse motorway bit

Look forward to seeing more shots of these wonderful mammals.

Certainly an eye-catching and dynamic composition.
One further question Gary if you don't mnd.Did you diffuse the flashguns in any way,as I notice that the vole and perch look very effectively lit without any undue highlights/sheen that can often be an issue on small mammals fur?

Hi Justin, thanks for the intrest

No the flashguns are just plain as they are.
one a couple of feet above the camera at 45deg,
the other on the Opposite side level with the camera slightly offset.
hope this helps

Thanks Gary.
I'm working with a bank vole and wood mouse at the moment, hence the reason for the question.
Looks like you've got your lighting down to a fine art  :toast:

PS. Enjoyed browsing your website the other day,I see you've got a Wood Mouse visiting as well.
