Touch of Desert
A scene in the open terrain around the Alabama Hills. Lone Pine Peak is the main backdrop here. Thank you in advance for your comments.

This is real nice, Paul! I really like the afternoon light. The composition is nicely balanced, and the sky is perfect!

You're making homesick, again.

Stunning Paul. I really like the texture and sky. I will have to look into the location.

Paul,

It sure doesn't look like an out-West desert.

I really like the texture of the foreground and the wonderful clouds in the sky.

Ciao ;^)

I like hte lighting and clouds. the cyan tint to the dark part of the clouds is a bit odd however. must have been a great scene.

I commented on this in ESS, but thought I'd add this. My wife and I were out exploring in the wrangler yesterday just out of Bishop. We found some spectacular granite formations that are, I swear, exactly the same as those in the Alabamas! Same colors, textures, everything. Quite a neat place we found. Maybe after a little rain in the next couple days I shoot them when they are wet. Thanks for sharing your Alabama shots!

Looks like you and Marc Adamus were walking around in the same area:

Thanks Josh for this link. I showed Marc this cactus location, however, I was not there when he finally captured this image. He had returned to this site several times until he captured the scene the way he wanted it. My image and his are two different sites in the Alabama Hills. I know exactly where the one Marc shot is, but I do not recall where the one is I shot, it has been a year or so back now that I took it. Additionally, mine was a sun going down behind the Sierras lighting and his was a sunrise image. Thanks again Josh for your post here.

I owe Paul totally and completely everything for showing me where that beautiful cacti is! Thanks Paul!

This one is quite nice. Good balance of foreground elements, background interest and lighting.

Marc, it was my pleasure to have met you finally after talking on line for over three years now at various sites and here at NPN too. Additionally, I was glad you captured the image as superb as you did. I know you mentioned several returned visits to the location to get the results you wanted, and it sure looks like that was a perfect day for it.

Hi Paul,

Very nice. The whole composition is so well balanced - in terms of shapes, color and light. Good work, once again.
