Hi to all,
Reed Bunting , photographed at Potteric Carr yesterday , turned out to be a pretty poor day alround with this Reed Bunting being the highlight , I originally went for some Treecreeper images and after following a pair around for over an hour with nothing to show for my efforts due to the poor light I decieded to call it a day.
I'll try again next weekend for the Treecreepers.
Medium crop , Levels , Sat , Curves , Usm (150,0.2,0 x3) in CS2
Canon 20D , 500mm F4 L IS , W/hv2 , Gitzo 1325 and c/r
1/500th @ F4 iso400 ex/comp -1/3 jpeg
All comments and advice most welcome
Kind regards
Andy...

nice shot, i find the twig cutting across the tail a bit distracting

Hi Andy - nice one
I'd be tempted to clone out the twig cutting behind the tail and also some selective levels adjustment around the birds eye and black facial patch.
Are you shooting jpeg or RAW
Regards
Andy

Comments above say it all - remove the twig and open up the face and you'll have a nice portrait.

Nice capture but I agree with the other comments and the stance of the bird is awkward Andrew.
