Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent on-camera flash photography tutorial??

Google search turns up hundreds. Take your pick. :)

If you're a Canon shooter, this one is the best: http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/

Even if you're not a Canon shooter, there is a ton of information that is applicable to any SLR system.

I had to learn flash very quickly last year as I was given the job of photographing my brothers wedding. Although I mainly used off camera flash I found these websites invaluble:

http://strobist.blogspot.com/

Hope these help.

The photonotes eos document is excellent to explain how the Canon E-TTL systems work.

The strobist website is an excellent source for explanation of flash techniques on the cheap (mostly). They are big fans of pocket wizards so many of their setups require that system and the pocket wizard is not a cheap gadget. Otherwise, I've found their site interesting and informative.
