How to get samples of different Epson printer papers?

Hi All,

I'm a new member to this group, and must say that I'm impressed by
the photography skill demonstrated by this group. Looking forward to
meeting you at a get-together.

So on to my question...

I'm looking to purchase an Epson 3800 wide-format printer. But am not
sure of what paper types I'll be happy with. It seems like Epson does
not provide a sample pack of all their papers for one to try out. And
I hate to buy 50 sheets of paper to find out I don't like it.

So any ideas of how I can get samples?

When I've had printing done for me by other folks, I think the paper
they used was Epson Premium Luster. Which I liked very much.

Some other Epson papers that may be interesting to me are :

Epson Velvet, Enhanced Matte Archival Fine Art
Epson Premium Glossy, Resin Coated
Epson Premium Semi-Gloss Photo
Epson Premium Luster E, Resin Coated

and there are a bazillion others as well.

I'd appriciate any feedback if you have used these papers, and what
works well for you.

Thanks,

-Jeremy

Jeremy-
Cood call on the 3800; you'll have a great time and get great results.

For paper samples (and purchasing in bulk) check out

http://www.inkjetart.com/

http://www.digitalartsupplies.com

Between these two I've found really no need to look anywhere else.

As for papers, you should check out some other brands too:

Hahnemuhle PhotoRag, Torchin and Pearl

Crane Museo and Museo Silver Rag

Arches Infinity

Moab Entrada

You can get sample packs of these too.

Don't forget to get a profile for any paper you use. If you really want to dial in the color for your specific printer and paper combination, I make custom profiles for $25 each.

Have fun!!

Welcome, Jeremy! You will like the 3800.

Inkjet Art offers a number of paper sample packs here - including some Epson:

I use Atlex also. Prices are great and I have never had a problem. Only issue can be delays since I believe they are headquartered out of Florida so shipping sometimes takes alittle while. I have also used Provantage (thanks Scott B) for Epson Enhanced Matte (EEM) as I have found their prices on 13x19 EEM to be among the best out there.

I agree with Nat about profiling papers and also provide custom paper profilng with my Gretag EyeOne Photo System with Profilemaker for $25 per profile. For the shindig Kalin, Scott B and I did a bunch of paper comparisons with EEM and Epson Premium Luster against custom profiles I put together. Profiles really kept the prints very consistent and accurate to their original drum scans.
