Wheatear
Taken a couple of days a go, I went down yesterday this time with my 2x extender fitted but they'd seemed to have dissappeared. Pleased that I got to see them though, beautiful looking little bird.

500mm f/4L IS with 1.4x and 1D MkII N. ISO 200, 1/800 sec. at f/8, -1/3EC. Hand held whilst laid flat on grass (much to the amusment of passing dog walkers!)

Thanks & best wishes.

Hi Paul, good light and comp., but the bird is rather soft. Is it cropped a lot ?

Should really be shooting at f11 for the best quality from the converter I've been told. Nicely presented but a bit soft. :toast:

f8 usually works fine with the 500mm in my experience - might I suggest it's either a processing issue or a smidgen of camera shake? Shame as it's a nicely balance pic and subject is always a cracker.

Not seen one this year yet - beautiful light, beautiful subject. However, looks like a little camera shake due to hand holding.

Thanks all. yes with the blustery wind and all camera shake was an issue here! And yes this was cropped a lot more than I would of liked.
