Got lucky with this male Sparrowhawk the other day. He was so busy calling for his mate, that he didn't take much notice of me.

I got some shots of them mating too. Interesting enough the female was almost as red as the male and had more orange eyes.

20D + 500/4, iso200, f7.1 1/250. On tripod, no hide.

I really like the soft shadow on this and the diagonal posture. Great colours too. Well done!

Hi Helge great image of a very nice bird. If it was mine I would clone out the two twigs in front of it's head.
