I noticed that PS CS3 was released and will ship in Mid April. I'm pretty excited about the smart filters for use with selective sharpening/noise reduction etc. Adobe stepped up HDR and pano capabilities as well. Also, I noticed that the educational version of the software can be used commercially as long as it is bought while you are a student. There is also an "extended version" that costs a bit more, but it is probably not very useful for photographers. The upgrade costs $199 for the standard CS3 (a little bit more than upgrades used to cost). However, it will upgrade versions 7+, not just CS2 as was originally thought.

I found the pano results in the CS3 beta are greatly improved - a benefit that I haven't seen widely advertized. I've redone several panos that had just terrible seams in CS2, but stitched perfectly with the beta.
