Hope to see everyone at the New England Camera Club Council's annual conference at UMASS campus in Amherst, MA on July 13,14,& 15th. Excellent programs (46), speakers, models, camera equipment sales and renewal of friendships made with people throughout the US and Canada. Andre Gallant is the featured speaker for Saturday night's program.

It would be a great place to meet those from NPN where all could have common interests and learning experiences. If interested, go onto the NECCC website for more info and get back to me with your email address so that I can set up a meeting time and place.

Sounds like a great meeting, but I would hope that NENPN's would be able to meet up for some shooting before then. Wild flowers, waterfalls, lupines...all before July!

Jim and I have been shooting emails for a trip to the alpine flowers in early June among other ops! :wavey:

I endorse the NECCC conference held at U Mass Amherst each July. I have attended for the past 5 years and I have always enjoyed it and have thought that it was well worth it. The format is some large sessions (300-400 people) but mostly smaller sessions (40 - 60 people). I have learned and re-learned a great deal attending this conference. There will be nationally know photographers there as well as many knowledgeable people you have probably never heard about. The range of subjects will cover a wide set of topics including advice on various types of photography, technical sessions, software sessions, and sessions that feature slide shows of spectacular images to inspire you. Be advised that it is not just nature and wildlife, but the full range of photography.
One session that many people find appealing is the regional sales and tech reps for Canon and Nikon show up and run sessions for their users. The usually run a "whats new" session and a Q & A session. Generally they have a good deal of the lastest gear availible for you to look at.
Al you will find lots of photo related companies there at the session in a "trade show" type of area and they are selling stuf fthere and they usually have very good discounts, so it is a good place to bring some money!!
You can sign up on line and get more info here: http://www.neccc.org/

A word of advice - If you are going to travel to Amherst don't stay in the dorms unless you have no other choice. . . camping out would be better. There are lots of motels in the Amherst area but they fil up fast this weekend as there is a student soccer camp that runs the same week at U Mass.
If you have specific questions feel free to email mail me or post them here.

Just as a point of information, Canon and Nikon are loaning their newest lenses and cameras on a first come, first served basis to attendees. So you can not only see and touch the newest cameras and lenses but use them for an hour or two to see how you like them. There is also a new dorm this year that has multiple bedrooms in a suite type setting -- air conditioned and all!

I concur with both of you. This is THE photography weekend. Anybody who's anybody in the photo world of New England will be there. I've already sent in my registration via fax. I didn't want to wait and possibly lose out on an air conditioned room in the North Residence Hall, but got no reply or confirmation, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get a room Last year the closest I could get was East Springfield, a half hour ride away!!! I'm in for any meet ups/shoots!

Depending on the weather, I know a couple of good waterfalls that are fairly close to U Mass Amherst. One of them is a pretty unusual one and the other is easily accessed and has lots of room to get different comps.
When we get closer to the conference we can see if people want to get together.

Jim,

Is this one of them? I took it last year while at the conference but I wasn't driving so I don't know where it is. Nor do I know it's name!!
