This month marks the 7th anniversary of NPN. So here's to all of you - our members, our moderators, our editorial and cover-shot contributors, our forum participants - all of those who help make NPN the best nature photography site on the Internet!
Wow doesn't 7 years go fast. As a long time guy here I have witnessed a few changes, some rough times and all the good ones as well. NPN just keeps getting better and that's probably because of all the work most of us never see behind the scenes. Thanks Jim, thanks crew. One day I hope to visit a few of you over in the USA.
...I have witnessed a few changes, some rough times and all the good ones as well.
No doubt about it, we went through some rough changes in 2003 but NPN has since grown into a much nicer place because of it. NPN will always remain a site dedicated to its members and participants, not to the blatant self-promotion of its owners. Sorry folks, I personally have no "workshops" to offer simply because most of you are already better photographers than I ever hope to be - and you're probably already better than those who plug themselves and their workshops on other sites! While you won't find self-serving cover shots or front page advertisement for site-owner workshops on NPN, you can find a comprehensive listing of member-run workshops in our Workshops Forum. Many of these workshops are offered by truly talented individuals who aren't in it for just the money (or ego stroking).
I am honored to be a part of NPN. I am honored to do the "behind the scenes" work on behalf of all of you. I am happy to stay out of the spotlight and let the truly talented shine without fear of reprisal. And most of all, I remain humbled by those who help make this such a great place to share in the joy of nature photography.

It doesn't seem possible that it's been 7 years already. Thank you Jim, Donna and everyone who has made this possible!
Someone remind me of that dog year conversion. Without that, I can only say: I've posted thousands of images here. I've gotten millions of comments, vast riches (ha, I challenge you to challenge vast: is a negative number vast?), but what really matters is that time spent here is time spent well.
Congratulations to the ents that created this site and many happy returns.
Happy Anniversary NPN Time flies when you're having fun Thanks to Jim, Donna and forum moderators...thanks to all NPNers for their valuable input....and a pat on the back to each of us for joining such a FANTASTIC community WHEE!!!! Can't wait to see what happens in the next 7years
Danny! Where in the down-timber you been, mate? It's been a long time since I've seen NZMacro 'round here! It's good to see you Danny, and I hope all is well!
Jim, as one of those who has been here almost from the beginning I can truly say that the site gets better every day. The quality of the participants, moderators, our new editor and all the work you and Donna do make this site the best on the web. Every entity has growing pains and this one has as well but the growth has always led to something better. Many thanks!

How many of you remember the frog this site started with( I think it was a frog)? I think Jim has posted it once or twice since then.
Ah, those were the days. Only one gallery to look at (and easily doable on dialup). No digital cameras, at least that we could afford. The infamous Velviasaurus running amuck... One forum, no regional groups.
Keep up the good work.

Dan, you must be thinking of this published in August of 2000. My "photography" is so outclassed now that I dare not put up any more of my stuff!
Bill, thanks for your kind words. After all this time, I still wouldn't give it up for anything!
Ditto on all comments!!! As a fairly new ( 1 year) member, I have truly enjoyed this site as it is now and look forward to more years with this community.
