Turbulent Waters
Along the coast last night. Thanks for commenting.

I was wondering if yesterday's sunset at teh coast was any good...

Sure screams drama. The composition is spot on, as is the processing. If you are trying to make the viewer sea sick or dizzy then you succeeded!

Love the motion in the water and the luminance in the sky. 1 second was perfect for capturing the motion of the waves while still retaining the water texture.

Thanks guys. Phil - it was hailing at sunset, however, the clouds before that were pretty nice.

I'm pretty useless as far as critiquing landscapes, but I love the matching tones between the clouds and waves. Is that a road and/or fence in the upper left?

The clouds, water and jagged rocks tell a great story. Very nice image. My only minor nit is that my eyes are telling me that the image should be rotated clockwise a little. Probably just me.

Extremely good rendition of the water. I guess 1 sec is about perfect for this. Also excellent b&w conversion. Did you use the channel mixer in PS?

Also, I've been thinking about buying the 17-40 lens for wide angle work. I have the 28-70/2.8L and TS-E 24/3.5 but sometimes need something wider than 24mm. Is the 17-40 sharp all the way out to the corners on an FF camera such my 5D?

Inge, you can see at least one full-res. full frame sample by visiting my website. I've not had any major problems with the 17-40. It's not quite as sharp as my 70-200, but very close. Not enough to make a big difference, and I do a lot of print business, so it's definitely important to me.
I did use a channel mixer in PS, as I do with most B&W conversions.

Awesome shot, Marc. Those rocks are very strong elements and with the water swirling in a way that echoes the turbulent clouds - it's all goooooood

Only thing that I could call a nit would be the road in the far Left corner and the open space under it. I don't really want to look over there for very long, but can't help it.

Yeah, there is a wooden railing but no road. I suppose it could look like one at this size. I'll consider removing it.

No nits from me, Marc. The clouds and water are awesome!

Perfection speaks for itself!

Really like the swirlyness of the water, its almost Van Gogh-like.

Great movement in the water and wonderful contrast throughout Marc. Fantastic shot.

The composition, the water, and the clouds - I don't think you could do much better than this.
Wow!
