Passer domesticus (and repost!)
A very overlooked and under photographed bird I reckon. The House Sparrow. Trying to get a few different angles and poses to make them a bit more interesting  Realise this won't be to everyone's taste but I like it...it's got character

Thanks for any comments

Shot at f14 and still couldn't get enough DOF

Composition suits my taste anyway.
As you say, an often overlooked bird, but ones that can give hours of entertainment. I think they were the first birds I photographed years ago.

Shot lacks a little contrast Graeme, maybe a wee tweak in curves would sort this out, other than that a solid shot.

Thanks John. Given a tad more contrast. Better or not enough?

We got em down here to0, some bloke bought them with him when he came to get rich on the gold, a couple o' years ago I've a few hours of enjoyment learning about bird behavior pointing a 75 - 300 sigma at them attach to one of my Pentax's, great fun getting the right angles.

Good tweaking much more 3D, I feel its a bit unbalanced though needs some more room on the left. Tidy work it must be said.

Repost is much better, but can't help feeling that it needs more room at the bottom and less at the top.... nice pose from the bird.

Hi Graeme,

Now thats what i call detail, and love the bg colours which really complement the bird.

You know what my only nit would be though don't you  a bit more space would work wonders for me

Obviously still a brilliant shot (goes without saying lately)!

Thanks for the comments.

I agree with the tightness of it all. It is unbalanced in my view as well, but I have no room at the bottom and tried to keep it in A$ persective. Probably could add some canvas to this as the perch isn't that complex and nor is the BG.

Also I have no room on the right as this was pretty much full frame, so I tried to compensate and balance it up by taking as much off the left as possible to give it a decentralised composition...but I agree, a bit more space would balance it up better.

Really reluctant to do too much manipualtion to be honest and doing all the necessary adjustments to balance this shot would grieve me  so I think I'll have another go and get it right in camera.... and stand back a bit

Thansk for the comments... that's why I post here .... for this type of critique :toast:
