Hoping for some guidance here...
My 2200 seems to exhibit banding lightly from time to time, (very often), requiring head cleaning. I usually run a print or two each week, and always leave the printer on at all times - should I actually be turning it off to avoid this? Thanks!
Yes, for most printer you should generally turn the printer off when you are done using it. There are certain things it needs to do to keep the ink lines clean every time you turn it off (you'll notice it's making some noises after you hit the power button and before it actually turns off).

Actually, I never turn my 2200 printer off and have very few head problems. I've left it on for a 4 week span without printing while on vacation and the nozzle check came out clean. I've heard that dry environments contribute to the clogging. Maybe leaving an open dish of water near your printer might help keeping the print heads clear.
You should always turn it off if not using it for any extended time. This is more important in environments where dust or pet hair may get on the heads. From most of the forums I've been on, that is probably the number one cause of clogging problems. I think it may also have to do with the way it parks and caps the heads vs being in a ready to print mode leaving it more vulnerable.
Somehow I got the impression that I should leave my Epson Ultrachrome printer on all the time. A (not very) quick check of the Epson site doesn't help. Based on the comments in this thread I've apparently doing it bassackwards....I haven't had much trouble, but I've occasionally had to run the print head cleaning routine.
I'd agree with Rob's suggestion and just to add further to it,always be sure to turn the printer itself off, rather than at the wall socket.

You know, turning my printer off does make sense, now that you mention it. But my 2200 is generally on 24/7 (unless electrical storms are in the area) and I have only seen banding 3-4 times in 2+ years. When it did band, it happened on both the lead & trail edge of the print so I never suspected clogged nozzles.
Maybe I've inadvertently setup in a perfect operating environment, because I'm generally not that lucky.
