One more try!
I photographed this scene a while back and just could not make it work...I was out early this morning and noticed the water was up a bit higher hitting the fallen log, creating a nice splash.

Please let me know what you think!

Thanks
Darren

Darren, the wet shine on the rocks is great and I like how dynamic the water is. However, for my taste, the rocks are a bit amorphous and lacking in any real focal point or subject. My eye is drawn to the log and the spray coming off of it which makes me wish that it was a stronger, more central element in the composition.

Darren,
I don't think your quite there yet. These shots have to be perfect in order to pull them off. I just don't think this scene has enough to work. I've shot many of these type shots in the past and have pretty much given up on them. I don't mean to sound negative. Just giving youj my honest opinion.

The water hitting the log and casting spray off of it is definitely better than the one I remember with the log just sticking out and doing nothing but interfere with the scene. That makes me put in a vote for a view (or crop?) where the log is more central as the subject (not necessarily centered in the frame...). Since you're getting to know this particular spot, it's worth it to keep trying, IMO. Hope you do.

I'm the odd man - in more ways than one I'm sure - I like this Darren... the two parts of the stream converging looks very artistic to me.. great exposure, too..

Darren, the comp. feels too scattered to me, as Sean points out. Lacking a real point of interest or anything to draw you into and through the scene. The handling of the water is nice though.

Daren,
I'm not feeling this one either for similar reasons as Marc stated.

Thanks Guys and Gals!!!

I value your honesty and will keep trying....I have an idea that might work now that the water is high enough to hit that log....

thanks again!
