Looks like the morels are coming out. I know of this particular spot that has typically 50-75 or more morels in a small area each year. I can't stand to eat them myself, but do enjoy pointing a lens at them. This week the patch has already been hit at least twice, the last time wiping all of the muchrooms out. But they are coming back, and I found about a dozen of them this morning, none more than an inch and a half tall like these two. Not sure what the cold weather is going to do to the crop, but if you are out and enjoy snacking on these guys, now is the time to be looking...

I'm with you Tim, I enjoy shooting these interesting subjects. I find them to be somewhat challenging, or maybe that's because I'm somewhat challenged getting down to their level! Something about my stomach getting in the way!
And looking at them here reminds me why my brain won't let me eat them either!
You sure have a way of making these guys look their best, Tim. Beautiful shot!
It's rare for me to see morels - mainly because so many folks are out looking for them to munch on. I've tried frying 'em once, and though they were OK, I don't think I'll be spending a lot of time hunting for them - except to photograph.

We ate a lot of those when I was a kid. That was in southeast Arkansas. I don't even hunt for them anymore. How do you get that black background? I never saw one that looked that good. Great composition.
