Glossy Starling
This photo was taken while i was on holiday in the Pilanesberg National Park South Africa last year. It was mid afternoon and i saw this guy sitting in a near by tree.

1DSMK11 + 300mm F2.8
RAW + C1 PRO
CS3, LEVELS, SAT & USM.

Sorry it's not from the UK (I'm working on that!)

All comments very welcome

Hi Kevin

Lovely bird. The tree trunk on the right does distract IMO. If possible it might have been better if you had caught the bird looking in the other direction which would allow you to crop the image to remove the tree trunk.

Hi,

Fascinating bird, although a touch central for my tastes, if you are careful the trunk on the right can be removed and then a slight crop from the left, the eye is fantastic and is certainly a draw in the image and is screaming to be on or near one the intersecting thirds....

an image with potential I think...

Hi Kevin, I agree with the above comments, but a great shot with a lot of potential as Phil said. Don't know whether it's full frame or not, but could also be done as a portrait with a bit of work.

Very nice image :toast:

Woo - pass the sunglasses

Yep - trunk rhs needs to go and maybe a bit of extra bg canvass on the right and crop a bit left.

Nice one Kevin :toast: :toast:
