I'm going to be in the Denver/Colo. Springs area the next two or three days and would like to do a little birding. Anyone give me some ideas on good spots to drag the camera to?

Thanks,

Richard

Fountain Valley Regional Park, just east of I-25, south of Security,CO. Some migrants are starting to arrive with more on their way over the next couple of weeks.

Sawhill Ponds and Walden Ponds in Boulder, if you're able to get to the north end of the metro area.

The Audubon Center at Chatfield State Park has some nice trails in a wetlands area right near the foothills on the Southwest side of Denver.

You may also have some luck with the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge - Lake Ladora has some pretty good birding at times, and a small wetlands boardwalk sometimes provides good views of wetlands songbirds. The Arsenal also has opportunities for viewing Prairie and urban bird life.

In Colorado Springs, if you're looking for Pinon-Juniper wildlife, try the Cheyenne Mountain State Park orGarden of the Gods for Scrub and Pinon Jays, Towhee and other scrub brush birds.
