Probably not the place to post this, but having looked at a few of the members websites I am curious as to what programme/technique people use to make slide shows on their websites. I'm not a technical dunce, so would like to give this a go.
Thanks

Hi Gavin - if you want to make a slide show or an auto change slide sequence imho the best way to go is to action script it in Flash.
Always bare in mind though that scripts of any kind don't always work in every browser for many reasons and that some mobile devices cannot load certain scripted pages at all.
And some search engine spiders baulk scripted pages and flag the domain never to return again.
Plain html is still the best way to build a site if only because everyone can view it in any browser type.
If you fancy using Flash action script and you need a hand drop me an email - always glad to help.
It does depend on what platform your website is running on, windows server or linux. Coppermine use php which is normally run of a linux based server and requires MySQL. Most of the free scripts that you can find on the web will output html that will work with the vast majority or browsers so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Most of the scripts can be customised with a little bit on knowlegde.

I did mine in Flash, but by and large tend to stick to plain html as much as possible as I've learnt from working in the web industry for many years that all the bells and whistles are usually more trouble than they are worth!

Hi Gav,
I use php and MySQL (and then css for all the styling) but it depends how much info you want for each photo. I enter each image into a database table and put in info about which gallery it should be in, what its of, where it was taken and stuff like that. If you don't need that much then you can get php to just make an array of everything in the folder. I preffer server side scripting to something like flash because its more independant of the browser.

Thanks very much for your imput all of you. I see so many photographers websites (m,ainstream people as I work in the media industry) and the majority are madde with flash. Then I talk to IT people and they hate flash and say work within html.
But i'm going to investigate the php option as that may be better
