I spent yesterday afternoon behaving like a fat version of Rambo (not a pretty sight believe me) cavorting around a local wood trying to get a shot or 50 of a tree creeper with absolute zero success.

The wood adjoins a largish lake so I went and sat on the bank and was sharring my last 4 bourbon bickies with a few overly friendly mallard when this chap came cruising in from behind me flying straight into the setting sun.
Luckily he did a full circuit of the lake and came back in on virtually the same line so I could still shoot him with the sun roughly behind me.

Some tree creeper ehh :jump:

Hi Andy,
Very nice flight shot , like the comp and the detail in the whites is good.
As for the treecreepers , their very tricky to photograph , I still don't have a decent shot after weeks of trying , they keep disappearing round the far side of the tree just as your going to release the shutter , very frustrating indeed.

Kind regards
Andy...

I tried for treecreepers last week and came away with nowt but a sore butt from sitting in one place too long so this is a great result! :toast:

Great in flight shot, lovely detail! It's always nice to come away with something you hadn't planned or expected.

Nice flight shot Andy. Nicely exposed

Treecreepers!!! They drive me mad  I had a perfect opportunity once just after getting rid of my 100-400 and buying a 500/4. The treecreeper was literally 8 feet in front of me with good light and perfect profile..... by the time I'd stepped back enough and got it in order, it had gone about 10 feet higher and around the otherside of the tree :frown: I miss my 100-400
