Whoa - a dancing dipper. Well caught action from a great low viewpoint.

Nicely caught action, for me the image is too low in the frame with the negative space above not adding to the composition, I would also get rid of the OOF highlights in the bg as they detract from the main subject... even more so due its placement in the frame.

The light seems to have done you no favours sorry.... looks like a burst of fill flash may have helped, the image is also slightly soft, I'm guessing from shooting the 300 + 1.4 combo wide open, you need to stop down to at least f8, so I would have upped the ISO to 400 so that I could have gotten that magical f8 aperture...

You really have captured a good pose, it is just a few technical aspects that are letting it down, hope this doesn't come across as too harsh...

All the best :wavey:

I love these poses as the Dipper stretches - such small wings they seem to have - agree with Phil on the technical side as well though still a good behavioural shot.

Cheers

Agree with the compositional comments. Fill flash would spook these surely? In my limited experience, you get one shot with flash, so it has to be good. I prefer to take my chances and rattle off 10gb of useless images hoping one will be lucky
